Earthquake- proof buildings
As part of our Changing Lands study, we constructed buildings using various shapes to test their strength in an earthquake. Well done Miah on making our eartquake simulator.

Tuatara Reports
Room 10 recently visited the Tairawhiti museum and created tuatara pictures using a variety of materials and textures. We then wrote a report which we attached to our art.
Tuataras are not lizards. They are reptiles from a family called Sphenodon. The name tuatara means spiny back in maori.
Tuatara look spiky but they have soft skin. Tuataras can camouflage which means they change colour with the background when they touch something. They look like lizards.
Tuataras live underground in burrows.You can only find Tuataras crawl and eat insects, bugs and even baby tuataras.By Miah

Tuataras have a tail. They have a third eye on its head. It has sharp claws. They also have a long tail and spikes on their backs.
They live under ground and are native to New Zealand. They bite and hold it for a long time. They run fast so they can get away from their predators. They eat insects, such as beetles, seabird and wetas. They are master of camouflaging which means they turn into different colours.

Tuataras have lived in New Zealand millions of years. Tuataras are reptiles. They can look invisible because they are masters of camouflage.
Tuataras have scaly skin. It is a wrinkly creature. It has four sharp little claws and three eyes. They run, walk, eat and play.

Tuataras are not lizards but they are reptiles. Tuatara means “spiny back” in Maori. All types of things kill Tuataras so scientists are trying to stop them from extinction.
It has lots of spikes. They are really random because their ear is under its skin. Also they have three eyes. The skin feels so wrinkly.

Tuataras are reptiles. They come fromNew Zealand. They are unusual.Its ears are inside its skin. In MÄoriits name means spinyback.
It has three eyes.Its thirdeye doesn’t see. They can growup to 60 cm long and live up to a hundred years.
